A Core 2 Duo with the stock cooler/fan, a 7200GS or other fanless video card, 
a fanless or quiet PSU and no hard drive makes a very quiet frontend. Not 
silent but pretty hard to hear even in a quiet room and decently powerful 
too.

We have a diskless mini-ITX board in the bedroom which is pretty quiet but not 
great in terms of power.
