Was indeed! I just installed, with the device plugged in. To my amazement,
after the new v4l-dvb package was built, the kernel recognised it. No
reboot, no taking it out of the usb slot and plugging it back in, here is
dmesg:

[100334.522428] usb 3-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and
address 5
[100334.662256] usb 3-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice

********** above here the output from pluggin the device in before
installing the new modules, below here generated automatically after the
LKMS had instaled the new v4l-dvb tree.

[100787.749593] dib0700: loaded with support for 7 different device-types
[100787.752050] dvb-usb: found a 'Pinnacle PCTV 73e' in cold state, will try
to load a firmware
[100791.713941] dvb-usb: downloading firmware from file
'dvb-usb-dib0700-1.10.fw'
[100791.935665] dib0700: firmware started successfully.
[100792.436028] dvb-usb: found a 'Pinnacle PCTV 73e' in warm state.
[100792.436172] dvb-usb: will pass the complete MPEG2 transport stream to
the software demuxer.
[100792.437709] DVB: registering new adapter (Pinnacle PCTV 73e)
[100792.678699] DVB: registering frontend 0 (DiBcom 7000PC)...
[100792.884908] DiB0070: successfully identified
[100792.885132] input: IR-receiver inside an USB DVB receiver as
/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:12.2/usb3/3-1/input/input9
[100792.912018] dvb-usb: schedule remote query interval to 150 msecs.
[100792.912035] dvb-usb: Pinnacle PCTV 73e successfully initialized and
connected.
[100792.912759] usbcore: registered new interface driver dvb_usb_dib0700

Even seems to have recognised the IR receiver for the tiny losedownthesofa
remote!

I applaud whoever developed LKMS, what a sweet result. I expeected to at
least unplug it and plug it back in, or even a reboot.
