That would work.

Sky can't encrypt the FTA channels, they aren't Sky ones.

In theory Sky could encrypt the EPG data, but that would mean breaking
the spec, changing the firmware in every decoder or the decoder if need
be. 

I don't see Sky doing that anytime soon.
