UKUUG holds occasional, open (and free) talks for leading lights
in the IT world to give a topical talk to IT professionals (both
UKUUG members and non-members). Speakers over the last year or so
have included Vint Cerf, James Gosling, Eric Raymond and Richard
Stallman. We are pleased to announce another such event ...

TED TS'O `A DECADE of LINUX'

We are very fortunate to have Ted, the well-known Linux kernel
developer who is Principal Engineer with VA Linux Systems, offer
to come along at very short notice and speak on the first decade
of Linux. This talk is an update of the the keynote Ted gave at
the recent Ottawa Linux Symposium.

Ted has a very long involvement with Linux; he has been a kernel
developer since version 0.10 and is the author of the Ext2
filesystem. Anyone running Linux is using code that Ted wrote.
He is one of the world's leading minds with respect to Kerberos
security and one of the TSX-11 maintainers. Among other things,
he is also noted for his work on the serial port/tty layer, POSIX
job control, and the /dev/random entropy driver.

Ted is a MIT graduate and still maintains residence in Boston.
He holds the title of Chair of the Linux International Technical
Board. Ted also co-chairs IETF's IP Security Protocol Working
Group (IPSEC) working group and a fan of fine Single Malt Whisky.
He is currently in London attending the 51st IETF.

The talk will be followed by a question and answer session on any
of Ted's interests.
