[HTS-members] An appeal for your suggestions

An initiative by the Chairman of the Taplow Parish Council, George Sandy, supported by the Chairman of its Planning Committee, Euan Felton, secured an undertaking from developer Land Securities, which was appended as an “Informative” to the conditions of the granting of planning permission by South Bucks District Council  to replace the unique Bishop Centre Shopping Village by a USA-style Strip Mall anchored by a large Tesco supermarket,  that it would pay “a sum of £100,000 ...to the Taplow Parish Council to be used towards environmental improvements in Taplow”  “prior to commencement and occupation of the development”. 

“Plea for ideas on how to spend retail park £100k grant” was the headline in the Burnham and Taplow edition of the Maidenhead Advertiser last week.

Proposals are to be submitted to the Taplow Parish Council by 30th April 2014.

All proposals will be considered at the Annual Parish Meeting on 20th May 2014 to be held in the Taplow Village Centre at 7.30pm. Proposers will have the opportunity to discuss their ideas and to hear the views of the Parish Council. 

The final decision will be made at a Public Meeting on a date to be announced.

In judging and determining the value of each proposal, the Council have set the following criteria:  



+  Be of permanent or long-standing value with "legacy" being pre-eminent 



+  Be of value to the Parish as an entire Community



+  Be affordable within the constraint of the £100K Fund



+  Should not involve any long-term maintenance burden over and above established Parish budget items unless any costs so arising can be met from new income.
