Yes, I do it  that way. Take time to plan for the entire life of the 
system build - enough partitions for every Nix you might like to try, 
then never revisit the disk structure again. You can make the LNX's all 
share the same Swap, but BSD will make its own (and is all of it 
difficult to access from LNX, tho not vice versa).

FreeBSD won't make much sense of that method - it can't see or use an 
Extended Partition.
