Just to keep you all happy - something about our format is working :-)
Wim will be proposing a talk for the meeting-after-next ...

Hi Jim,
Thanks again for the time and effort co-organising the ISIG meetups.
Regardless of the specific topics at hand, I'm always picking up
interesting bits there, both from the presentations themselves as well
as from all of the insightful comments, trivia, suggestions / etc.
I can only hope this can keep on growing into something (even more)
successful, reaching more people, and help raise infosec awareness in
the Dunedin IT scene.
Not sure how we're doing for future topics and speakers; I wouldn't want
you guys to have to bear the full burden every time though, so if there
is still a need for any other presenters to step up, I might raise my
hand for a future talk.
I'm not the most gifted public speaker or have particular in-depth
knowledge, but as was mentioned before, it does seem most of the
audience/participants in the current group are not seasoned security
professionals, making it slightly less intimidating for novices to
present something that doesn't necessarily have to be cutting edge.
In terms of specific topics: Would there be any interest in something on
USB HID attacks (Rubber Ducky-style keystroke injection, and something
more capable like the P4wnp1)? Nothing particularly new, just something
I've been playing around with for a bit lately, and thought it might be
a 'fun' practical topic to talk about, with good demo potential.
In the past few weeks I've also been messing around a bit with Qubes OS,
which might make for another topic option (and potentially a broader
discussion on desktop best practices, end-user attack vectors, pragmatic
security vs convenience, etc)
Alternatively if there are any other interesting (practical &
introductory) topics you have on your list that you'd ideally like to
offload, I can always have a look at any of those and see if there's
anything I can do with it.
Next meetup I won't be in town, but should be around most other times.
Cheers,
Wim
