I would like to thank you for the advice during my talk on Monday evening. I set up a breadboard with a 7812 configuration from a component app on my phone. I was horrified when the output was 11.60 volts. I searched through my stock of components and found
another 7812. I replaced the initial (faulty one) on the breadboard and to my great joy got a voltage of 12.03 volts. So, it was the component and I wated a lot of time checking everything BUT!

Hello everyone,

Good turnout with 24 attendees, and lots of huddles-of tech-talk. $37 +
change (in gold, and flat-money) collected and transferred into the
robotics loose-change jar (for later banking).

All sales from the trading table should go into the brown box on the
wall, and are directly for the benefit of our host club, Christchurch
Amateur Radio Club, NZART Branch 05.

Equipment donations are welcome for the trading table, but no CRT based
product, printers, toner or items that are likely to be a disposal burden.

With thanks on behalf of the group,

Mark Atherton

----------

Mark talked about progress on the uCPU, a small, educational,
micro-sequenced 8-bit processor to be implemented on an FPGA in Verilog.
ISA, Architecture, Instruction map, and micro-sequence editor are
complete, as well as micro-sequencing of several instruction groups.

Graeme Absaslon talked about an interesting current measuring problem he
resolved using a Raztek sensor.

Robin talked about his ultrasonic anemometer project.

Rudy discussed a high dynamic-range current data-logging problem.

Interesting YouTube content:

The SAT Question Everyone Got Wrong. youtube.com/watch?v=FUHkTs-Ipfg
fascinating insight into apparently simple puzzle.

Homemade 16 bit CPU youtube.com/watch?v=5rg7xvTJ8SU implemented entirely
in Excel. Three instructions per second. Utter genius.
