3M offer a very expensive red tape which will offer some thermal transfer. <br>
<br>
If you wanted to try some as a test. I could bring some along to a meeting for you to give it whirl before placing out on an entire roll.<br>

I don't know how much more effective the thermal transfer tape would be<br>
compared to the normal tapes if the LEDs are being mounted on an MDF or<br>
particle board surface, which is not particularly thermally conductive. I<br>
suppose the thermal tape would help to conduct the heat sideways as well as<br>
into the supporting surface.<br>

That won't really do you any good if you spread the heat sideways along<br>
flimsy plastic foil. Mounting on MDF conducts very little heat away,<br>
wood is a pretty good thermal insulator. There is significant thermal<br>
loss along the foil-PCB tracks as well. I still say, run the strips at<br>
the fraction of the rated power and buy twice as many metres. They're<br>
cheap. It hugley increases light output efficiency, and gives a better<br>
light colour/spectrum too.<br>

Moving the heat sideways (or along the line of the lights) allows the heat<br>
to be radiated or convected away from a larger area and helps keep the LEDs<br>
themselves cooler. As the degradation of the LEDs is likely to follow an<br>
exponential relationship with temperature, anything that keeps them cooler<br>
is good.<br>
I do agree that running the LEDs at a lower current gives many benefits.<br>
