<div dir="ltr">Moving the heat sideways (or along the line of the lights) allows the heat to be radiated or convected away from a larger area and helps keep the LEDs themselves cooler. </span>That won't really do you any good if you spread the heat sideways along<br>
flimsy plastic foil. Mounting on MDF conducts very little heat away,<br>
wood is a pretty good thermal insulator. There is significant thermal<br>
loss along the foil-PCB tracks as well. I still say, run the strips at<br>
the fraction of the rated power and buy twice as many metres. They're<br>
cheap. It hugley increases light output efficiency, and gives a better<br>
light colour/spectrum too.<br>
