Hi,

Not sure if it is exactly the same chip set for the Bluetooth module,
but this one also has default baud rate of 9600 and pincode of 1234. I
got the AT commands working by following this tutorial

http://www.hobbyist.co.nz/?q=Bluetooth-module-configurations

Good luck with yours
Cheers,

Hi,
I ordered some of these modules when this thread started... yesterday
I finally received the delivery (5 weeks ain't too bad for
dealextreme).
Anyway, I looked at the datasheet and suspect they upgraded the
firmware, since there are many inconsistencies; eg default baud rate
is 9600 not 38400, default pincode is 1234 not 0000, having problems
with the AT commands, ...
Has anyone else got the AT commands working?

These probably aren't ideal for applications that are required to be reliable.
I used my laptop as the master.
Each module appears as a COM port, so theoretically more than one
could be used simultaneously.

How many of those can you use simultaneously?
What do you use as master?

How has anyone managed to relate this datasheet to the thing sold by DX?
I had a look recently for similar but higher quality products. The usual
contenders (element14, mouser, digikey) sell these for about $30-50+GST:
Panasonic PAN1321, Laird BTM411, Roving Networks RN-42 (or RN-41 for
class 1 power). All come with a proper datasheet and CE + FCC approvals
and do SPP. Some do bluetooth 2.1 (better encryption).
