I would be very interested in Molten Media having a section for stepper motors, as well as as section for untested equipment. I've tried several times to engage with them to run the feed of bits both ways. They have always been very friendly but I never succeeded. It is always worthwhile looking along their shelves to see whats on offer. It springs to mind that I only go there to drop things off so if there was a web way to find out whats available they could sell more.

Hi All,

I have been helping out with this group for some time; they are
tasked with 'conscientious recycling' of hi-tech materials, computers
and associated unwanted material. The group also provide non-profits
and low income families with low cost, but usable computers on (very
long term) loan.

We are investigating extending 'conscientious recycling' to include
the Robotics club and similar organizations.

Normal donations to MM include olds PCs, printers, TVs, flatbed
scanners, photocopies and masses of old network devices like routers
and switches. Also power bricks, cables (including CAT5 and printer
cables that can be stripped for individual wires).

The normal business is run by testing, cleaning and re-selling
equipment with a nominal return policy.

Anyone interested if MM had a section dedicated to untested equipment
at a few dollars per piece ? This equipment would only be sold 'for
parts', so no warranty.

... and when you are done stripping out what you want, the remaining
guts could be returned to MM to be included in the normal scrap
recycling process.

Comments please - what are you looking for, from your next hi-tech
recycling store ?

Regards,

Mark

PS If is worth also noting that MM accept most electronics scrap, in
pretty much any condition free of charge. There is a charge for
dropping of CRT monitors and TVs.

PPS MM is located at the junction of Wordsworth and Waltham Road in
Waltham. Currently open weekdays 9am to 5pm. Soon to include Saturdays.

PPPS Hope this isn't considered a commercial posting, since it is
supposed to be 'community support'
