[chbot] UVC camera on Linux problems

My microscope uses a generic UVC camera that has a few issues with Linux
drivers

At startup I get
UVC non compliance - GET_DEF(PROBE) not supported. Enabling workaround.
but when I try to talk to it with vlc I get
v4l2 stream error: cannot set format: Input/output error

I've tried loading the driver with a variety of quirks but no luck but then
I happened upon the v4l2 test program that talks to it OK!

Does anyone know how I can stream through v4l2 somehow to allow access with
firefox/chrome etc during a Google meet session?
