Time and frequency can be considered as the basis of the techniques of
space geodesy as well as navigation. However, highly accurate time is
not easy to distribute. The velocity of light is high but still limited.
On top of this, there is no absolute time. Clocks run at different tick
rates, depending on where they are placed and how fast they are moving.
How is it possible to transport time accurately and what is more, how
can it be done with astounding resolution? This talk provides an
overview and illustrates how clocks can be utilized to provide a
physical height system.
