Is it merely understanding you want to know or is there  more sinister reason?

If you swap meter probes in D is it still the same ?

Maybe there is some general restive leakage between the terminals other than
the 800 ohms, Ie there are more than 4 resistors. 

Maybe the 700 and 765 ohm are there to have the correct current flow from the
source and to the output and the actual strain wires are a lot finer are a
much higher resistance. Ie there are 6 resistors. Its too early in the morning
for me to do the maths.
