Just in case you have an interest in home-designed ASICs...

Hackaday hosted 'Remoticon 2020', and have an excellent seminar called
'Zero to ASIC: Silicon Design with Skywater-PDK'

None of this namby-pamby FPGA stuff, this is real ASIC development using
open source tools designed for 130nm geometry.

Interestingly, Google are paying for some of the designs to be
fabricated, and one of the projects discussed is actually an open-source
FPGA. This means an open source implementation of real FPGA fabric.

Matt Venn is a brilliant speaker, and has managed to lift this topic
from drab-Dilbert-feed into quite a digestible 90 odd minutes of video.

Next meeting can't be too far away :)
