This is a really cool project. They replace the ESP8266 TCP stack with a
LWIP stack and cut the network connection time down to milliseconds from
6-10 seconds, saving a massive amount of power over time.
OpenWRT can read the packets, with minor mods, which contain just your
data (telemetry). This puts the ESP8266 back into the battery powered world.
