Hello everyone,
Christmas special meeting, with quite a few new faces this evening;
welcome all. Also, quite a selection of tasty nibbles; that you to all
of the culinary contributors.
Enthusiastic turnout with 26 attendees, and lots of huddles-of
tech-talk. $34 + change (in gold, and flat-money) collected and
transferred into the robotics loose-change jar (for later banking).
Quick reminder: equipment donations are welcome for the trading table,
but no CRT based product, printers, toner or items that are likely to be
a disposal burden. All sales from the trading table should go into the
brown box on the wall, and are directly for the benefit of our host
club, NZART Branch 05.
With thanks on behalf of the group,
Mark Atherton
============
Mike Field gave us a sneak preview into his upcoming talk at linuxconf
on the subject GPS. This was quite a comprehensive dig into the subject
and was truly excellent. Thanks Mike.
William gave us an update of his home-made 8 bit machine which has now
been committed to PCB. This project is making great progress.
Mark B brought in his CNC mill (with 2.5W solid state LASER attached).
He ran a quick demo to cut some text in a piece of wood; quite impressive.
Volker brought in a coffee machine, and talked us through the ‘repair’
process.
Andrew E talked about progress of the Maslow CNC mill project, along
with a (huge) seven-segment display prototype fabricated out of 12mm MDF.
Finally Robin sold the last of his Walnut stock.
