Yes we realise that. The point was that should one be hell-bent on
obtaining the same distortions for the the same effect, one should be
able to do the same thing with a little bit of silicon, with
indistinguishable results. In the age of SDRs (software defined radios),
a bit of 25kHz skulduggery should be on the easy end. While the
programming requirements exceed that of a valve circuit, the hardware
cost of a USB-pen-drive sized gimmick, its robustness, power
requirements, longevity and hardware cost leave the valve option for
stone dead. All for the *same* signal at the output, i.e. no audible
difference.

Come on, admit it, you're really talking bling factor here... ;-)
