Have you looked at ardupilot / pixhawk ?

It's not just for airborne stuff, although that's the only experience
I've got with it on some fixed-wing aircraft...

There's a few cheap options for the hardware, it's open source and
there's a lot of docco on using it for wheeled/tracked vehicles.

Look up the information for 'rover' configs.
