Hello everyone,
Reasonable turnout given the weekend holiday. 16 attendees, quite a few
exhibits, and lots of huddles-of-tech-talk.
$23 collected and transferred to BR05 account. Associated loose change
is in the Robotics loose-change box.
With thanks on behalf of the group,
Mark Atherton
-----------------
David Bourke brought in his latest purchase; a third generation Cube 3D
printer (end of stock, from Noel Leeming). Major issue with the
unmodified product is the manufacturers cost of filament. Needless to
say, this limitation has been overcome by David.
Winston brought in his latest, homemade 3D printer. Not quite finished,
but quite a work of art.
Mark B brought in a whole slew of toys, including an Edison, mounted on
a daughter-board. Also PiZero W, Raspberry Pi 3, a Micro:bit, a CodeBug,
and a BeagleBone Wireless.
Darren turned up armed with some interesting items for the trading
table, including a couple of Apple servers, which caused a great deal of
interest.
William is making a PCB for his digital watch, and brought along his
start of schematic capture, and PCB layout. Quite an ambitions first PCB
project.
Henry talked about the recent Meccano exhibition, at the Great Hall in
the Arts centre. Exhibits apparently included an auto
Rubik’s-Cube-Solver, and a Japanese woven-tube-creator.
Robin talked about various insulation issues associated with his home
made capacitive ground-moisture sensor project.
Darren talked about his home ESP-8266 based sensor network. This
included discussion of a WiFi network manager. Most interesting project.
