The kaikoura earthquake had a peak ground acceleration of 1.2g (measured
25km from the epicenter). Is your securing system sufficient for being
rotated 90 degrees so the batteries are hanging from it? How about
vertical? Can it deal with significant lifting force?
The february 2011 earthquake had a peak ground acceleration of 2.2g. At
these levels of acceleration even seemingly robust mountings may not be
adequate.
