Very amusing read and great comments.

I'm not sure it is fair to blame the technology for stupid applications,
that would be Internet of Stupid Things.

Just by way of balancing the perspective Martin Harizanov makes a very good
case for using cloud computing vs use of Raspberry PI like computers. At
less than $4 per month for a cloud based virtual machine with great
internet bandwidth it is getting harder to justify power cost for even a
small server at home and even harder to justify its purchase and
