$899 for a 42" set, with WiFi, and numerous knobs and whistles - LG-42UB820T

but here is the rub : 4k, amazing

the manual even details an RS232 control protocol (via a USB to serial) 
which may be relevant o the variant

extraordinary rate-of-change in the consumer marketplace

next step is to see just how good this will be as a computer monitor, in 
native mode
