Thanks guys! Extra holes are no problem, a spoke wheel type thing
wouldn't work so well. The hole saw is an interesting idea - not looking
forward to making 100 of them though...

The advantage of the tooth wheel shape is that the circumference
thickness can be much higher than over the rest of the area, saving
weight, but cutting from plate material won't do that.

I'll do a shop crawl first.
