Thank you all for your comments, you guys are great!

I didn't want to start any arguments (like "my robot platform is better than 
yours!"), but it is good to see that you feel strongly about your 
recommendations, and the reasons behind them.

To be honest I wasn't really sure what was current in the market, so now I 
have a good list of what you are actually using, and why you think it's 
suitable.

My next step is to make a shortlist of likely candidates and see what is 
available here, or how easily it can be acquired.
