If you just need to make slight adjustment to an existing project then you 
probably want to go with the ATMEGA329. That is the next one up from the 
ATMEGA169 on the Butterfly ad IIRC has the same LCD controller etc.

If you're looking at a new platform that has some legs, then consider STM32 or 
similar. These take you into a far more flexible world with far more 
peripherals, RAM, flash etc etc and way better software support. STM32, or 
similar, gets you away from proprietary lockin too.
