Yes, thats really silly of them...

laser cutters are a necessity in several industries, and most of those 
are very large and not that portable  (ie difficult to point up in a hurry)

Not to mention the scientific community and their lasers.

And the fact that DVD writers contain an easy to reuse 250mw red 
laser.... Are they going to ban those also??

I say ban the pilots for being idiots.
