Not at all OT. The best ten minutes I spent today so far.

My favourite comparison is between Gnome desktop and Mac OSX. Both animate 
pixels when opening and closing windows. The difference though is that Mac 
OSX animates pixels to actually improve the usability of the UI. Gnome seems 
to do this to say "oooh lookie, we can wobble pixels too" without actually 
having the goal of improving usability.
