I would not touch the

with a barge pole because it lacks desirable characteristics.
There are many competing demands when designing a GPS receiver:
* Sensitivity: Ability to track when things get tough. The Trimble Lassen unit
does not do well here.
* Update rate: Fast is good for some applications. Less important if a Kalman
filter is being used to generate dynamics.
* Integrated antenna: Cheaper, smaller. Again, Lassen fails here.
* Accuracy
* Precision:
Unfortunately many of the desirable characteristics are not specced on data
sheets and need to be determined by testing.
