[chbot] pcbzone.net boards (The review...)

Hi-ho,

What did the cost per sq. cm work out to be for a double sided / PT board? (I assume it's double sided from the via's in your pic).

Cheers, Chris H.

Well, I finally had the chance to try out PCB Zone myself last week. The
PCB I had made was a small prototype circuit for work. I only wanted one
of these things and couldn't justify paying for an entire panel or
wasting the time with veroboard. The result was about $75 and 1 working
week. Image here:
http://iforce.co.nz/i/m5vx05bx.jpg ...excuse my hand soldering.

Drill and layer alignment is visibly precise, silk screen is crisp etc.
I can't think of any other quality issues worth noting.

Unfortunately I had the website upload box stall while submitting my
files (because of the terrible internet connection at work), so I can't
comment on the usual transaction side of things, but it was a breeze to
then send the files and pay through email. Very friendly service.

The board arrived suitably packaged and scratch free.

Final thoughts? For small one-off prototype designs, I don't think it's
easy to beat the cost-to-lead time and service I experienced. The PCB
quality meets and exceeds my expectations. I'll certainly be using them
again!

Cheers
Mikael
