Hi Steve,

Our next meeting is on Wed 17th December at 6.30pm all people and robots welcome. At that meeting we have reserved the Science Alive Technology room that has 30 seats for hands on working with Lego nxt robots (15 I think). No previous experience is required and I'm confident that the evening will be interesting for newbies and old hands alike. We'll allow plenty of time for show and tell, getting to know each other and general chat too. Further details are on http://kiwibots.org , if you would like to let me know how many of you there will be in your party I can register you for the nxt session at $4 per person. Places are filling up fast, only 26 to go!

Cheers

Richard Jones

Hi Richard,

My young son is interested in robotics. I
was wondering if you have a get-together where we could come along and see some
of the groups work, that may inspire our boy to get
involved?

The Development Manager at Tait Electronics has generously donated a number of sample Sanyo battery packs to our robotics group. The packs are spot welded and taped but may be split to yield individual cells with care. Email the list outlining your plan for the batteries and how many you would like. I'll bring them along to the December 17th meeting. Note that the lithium cells require a current limited constant voltage charger (expect the cells to catch fire or explode if mistreated). The first two packs have AA size cells.
