[chbot] Anyone want to make a 3 axis CNC machine?

There are a lot of folks using drawer slides for foam cutters, and a
even a few I've seen on the web using them for routers...

I went with ground rod and phosphor bronze bushes for my first attempt,
which works well.. I've successfully cut up to 18mm MDF, persex, 2mm
Aluminum, and even some CD's to make Xmas decorations. :-).

I ran out of steam a few months ago, as my machine can only cut in an
area 210x170x50mm so is quite limiting for the type of thing I want to
do..

I'm saving my pennies for some real linear bearings...

I home-brewed my eletronics, and run it off the parallel port into EMC2
on a PIII733 PC... Work really well for what it is (A pile of junk
parts). Down sides are that it isn't rigid enough to hold good accuracy
beyond about .2mm, is damned noisy (The dremel running flat out) and is
too small..

I've got a goal of cutting dolls house bits out for my daughters 5th
birthday, so there's a deadline looming next year. (Not a small dolls
house). So far I've made some furniture, which is sorta close...

Cheers, Me.
